Lambert No. 1 Typewriter (RARE!)

Lambert No. 1 Typewriter

Newly posted to our Etsy Store, this Lambert No. 1 Typewriter is an extremely rare early typewriter from the year 1900. This unique typewriter took its inventor, Frank Lambert, fifteen years to develop.

While many other early typewriters were produced at this time, the current QWERTY keyboard had not yet been set as the standard. This unique typewriter uses a unique pressure, ball type device to type out letters.

The industrious Mr. Lambert sought to create a more affordable typewriting machine for the masses. While other typewriters sold for $100 USD at that time, (the equivalent of $7300 today), The Lambert was priced at $15.75 to $25, or $1800 at today’s values.

This Lambert has some issues and is in need of a restoration by a serious collector. Someone did some painting in its vicinity, so there are white paint flecks on the surface. The paint is chipped. There’s some rusting, and it’s missing piece no.47 from the Lambert parts chart here.

Sometime in the 20th Century, this typewriter was separated from its lovely wooden case. It’s being sold AS-IS. We have many more detailed photos of this little beauty and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about it.

The serial number is 2052. This very rare typewriter sells restored (if you can find one), for $3000 or more. These Lambert No. 1s don’t come up for sale very often, so, if you’re interested, don’t dilly dally!
